As others have said, what worries me most is Jennifer’s emotional state. This is a woman who has been in the media continuously for three years and is long overdue for a mental health break from the public eye. And now, because of some attention-sucking, women-hating, control-seeking, soul-lacking, rat-bastard criminal who is hiding behind a cloak of anonymity he denies others, Jen is likely mortified beyond imagination and reproaching herself in a thousand damaging ways.
Jen has to face her parents, brothers and grandparents; friends and business associates; colleagues she respects and admires (and has to do press with in just a few weeks); young fans who see her as a role model; and worst of all, herself. Knowing that she is the victim of a crime that seeks to humiliate and demoralize for sport will not shield her from the emotional scars she’s no doubt accumulating right now.
The fact of the matter is, if these were financial records or healthcare files that had been stolen from a “secure” file in the cloud and posted publicly, everyone would see it as the crime it is, instead of asking what the big deal is or saying she deserved it. Shame on the dude-bros and dude-girls who glorify the shit stain who did this.
Jen has been a great source of laughs, comfort, edification, entertainment and faith in humanity for me over these past few years. I’m continually amazed that someone so much younger than me has so much to show me.
I hope she stays strong. I hope she sees beyond this moment. I hope she keeps her joie de vivre. I hope she realizes that her loved ones still love her and her fans are still fans. I hope she decides, despite what has happened, that being an actress in this fucked up society is still worth it.
